Ubuntu 10.04 am Netbook langsam

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) läuft auf meinen Netbook extrem langsam. Der Grund war schnell ausgeforscht, ich habe mit dem Terminal das Programm top gestartet. Da tauchten einige Prozesse beam.smp auf, die die CPU-Last auf 99% hochschraubten. Dies wird für die CouchDB für Ubuntu One bzw. Gwibber benötigt.

Mit Gwibber kann man Nachrichten von sozialen Netzwerken wie Facebook, Twitter, usw. lesen und schreiben.

Nach der Deinstallation von couchdb mit dem Befehl sudo apt-get remove couchdb-bin, läuft Ubuntu auf dem Netbook wieder flott. Allerdings ist jetzt Gwibber nicht mehr verfügbar, und über Ubuntu One lassen sich keine Kontakte und Nachrichtenkonten mehr synchronisieren.

Eventuell wird das Problem von den Ubuntu-Entwicklern bald behoben, so dass diese Programme auf dem Netbook wieder installiert werden können.

Auf meinem Notebook mit einem Intel Dual-Core Prozessor tritt dieses Problem nicht auf.

Ubuntu – Update langsam ?

Ubuntu bietet ja die Möglichkeit Updates oder neue Programme direkt über das Internet herunter zu laden. Hier ein Tipp für alle, bei denen das Herunterladen lange dauert:

In den Systemeinstellungen lässt sich der Server (Computer, von dem die Updates kommen) ändern.

Klicke im Menü System – Systemverwaltung auf Software-Paketquellen.

Auf dem Reiter Software von Ubuntu gibt es den Punkt Herunterladen von:

Wenn dort Server für Österreich eingestellt ist, einfach ändern auf Hauptserver und Schließen klicken.

Jetzt werden die Paketquellen neu gelesen, und die Updates, bzw. neue Programme werden jetzt schneller geladen, da der Hauptserver wesentlich schneller ist.

Ubuntu 10.04 Layout

In der aktuellen Ubuntu-Version 10.04 LTS (Long Time Support) wurden einige Design-Änderungen gegenüber der Vorgänger-Version durchgeführt.

Unter anderem sind die Buttons zum Minimieren, Maximieren und Schließen auf die linke Seite gewandert, was sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig ist.
